zspgAbstract: This talk presents the backgrounds on Petri nets including the definitions, properties, analysis methods, and examples.

The practical use of Petri nets is strongly dependent upon the existence of adequate computer tools. This talk provides also basic information about PNeS (Petri Net System). This system has been designed and implemented in a modern programming technology. PNeS runs on any computer under any operating system.
